Topeka Bible Church Member Covenant:
Through our trust in Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord, our redemption from the Father unto new life, and our empowerment by the Holy Spirit to carry out God’s will, we dedicate ourselves to living as faithful and steadfast members of His kingdom. This covenant is a sign of our commitment to intentionally follow God’s Word, within a community of believers, and under the Elder leadership of the church. As the place of our worship and faith community is at Topeka Bible Church, we renew our commitment to Discover, Connect, and Serve in the following ways:

In order to DISCOVER God’s living Word through the continual study and application of truth as revealed in Scripture, we will…

  • Faithfully attend worship services, and not create a habit of our absences

  • Read our Bible frequently, submitting to the authority of God’s Word

  • Commit ourselves to living as the Bible instructs, avoiding sinful behavior while also pursuing righteousness in all areas of life

Scripture: Psalm 119:1; John 3:16, 8:47, 14:26; Romans 3:24, 6:12-14; 1 Cor. 1:2, 12:12; 2 Cor. 5:17; Col. 2:6; 2 Tim. 3:16; Titus 1:5; Hebrews 10:25

In order to CONNECT with God’s people through the building up of the local church body, we will…

  • Encourage others at our church towards love and good works

  • Pray for the health of our church and the deepening of relationships within it

  • Seek the unity of our church, handling conflict biblically and avoiding foolish debates

  • Pursue intentional friendships within the church, inviting others to do the same

Scripture: Proverbs 15:1, 27:17; Matthew 18:15-17; 1 Cor. 1:10; 1 Thess. 5:11; Hebrews 10:24-25; James 4:1-2, 5:16

In order to SERVE God’s kingdom through dedication to His local church and global mission, we will…

  • Cheerfully support the mission of the church with our finances

  • Serve others in our church and surrounding community through ministry opportunities

  • Pray that the gospel would reach non-believers, and that they would trust in Christ

  • Develop relationships with non-believers, displaying the love of Christ to them

Scripture: Matthew 9:38; Acts 1:8; Romans 1:16; 1 Cor. 12:7; 2 Cor. 9:6-7; 1 Tim. 6:17-19

We recognize that part of any healthy church is living within the shepherding care of the Elder Board. We commit to support the leadership of the church through prayer and encouragement, understanding that they are striving to serve Jesus Christ, before whom they must give an account for how they shepherd His flock. Therefore, we will also receive their biblical encouragement, accountability, and even correction, should the need arise. Similarly, we pledge to encourage and admonish our brothers and sisters in Christ as we proclaim the gospel to others and joyfully serve one another in numerous ways within the local church.

We acknowledge that living as part of a gospel-centered community is not easy, nor often seen as wise by those who reject Christ, but is ultimately worth the reward of seeing the gospel proclaimed to the watching world. We will uphold the integrity of the gospel message through our daily living and commit to the principles outlined above. To the best of our abilities, we will endeavor to Discover, Connect, and Serve within God’s kingdom primarily as a follower of Christ, and secondarily as members of His bride, the local church.

We will strive to keep this covenant with one another and with the Lord, displaying truth and love to the watching world until Christ returns to make all things new and usher in His perfect kingdom. Amen!

Scripture: Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 16:4; 1 Cor. 1:27; Col. 3:16; 1 Tim. 5:17; Titus 1:5, 2:6-8; Hebrews 11:26, 13:17; 1 Peter 5:1-5; Rev. 19:7, 21:1-2
